Athletics News
The Oakland Athletics finally broke into the win column by defeating the Atlanta Braves 5-2 at Truist Park, ending their grim 0-4 start to the season. Aaron Civale, making his first official start for the A's, took the mound with something to prove after a shaky previous season, and he delivered by keeping the Braves at bay. The lineup adjustment by manager Mark Kotsay, moving Jacob Wilson to the leadoff spot, paid off as it provided a much-needed spark against Braves' lefty José Suarez. With the A’s batting average still hovering around a dismal .220, they will need to build on this momentum to climb out of the early season hole. This victory offers a hopeful glimpse for a team that desperately needed it.
